The reality is that while there are many luxurious Guatemala hotels, there are also many that are, let's say, less than excellent (and some even have a few roosters in the vicinity that are more than willing to be your alarm clock...at any hour!). Antigua Hotel Recommendations

The majority of pleasure travelers to Guatemala are looking for an Antigua Hotel. Hotels in Antigua Guatemala tend to be on the pricier side, but there are good values to be found, as well. Though some hotels in Antigua can be pricy, it's important to find out how many people can sleep in a room. One room we stayed at near the Arch in Antigua cost upward of $200/night, but there was space for more than 6 people to sleep comfortably, and the amenities were amazing. Guatemala City Hotels

Travelers who visit Guatemala City tend to be on business trips or spending a night before or after a vacation in Antigua. Though not as relaxing as other more popular vacation spots, Guatemala City hotels really have a lot to offer. They are also surprisingly nice for a relatively affordable prices. You can find any type of hotel you desire here, from luxury to hostels, and most either offer shuttle service to the airport or can arrange it for a reasonable price. Most hotels are within 30 minutes or less of the airport in a taxi (which will probably run you about USD$15 or less), and if you want to walk around an experience the nightlife, the Zona Viva (which is part of Zona 10) is the place to be, and is relatively safe.
